WORN_RELICS was launched in 2008. It is an interactive online archive in which the stories and memories attached to garments can be collected and shared. The project explores the idea that clothing acquires value over time through being worn. It is a platform for the communication of the creativity and innovation that can be found in the diverse ways we interact with clothing in everyday life. Many unique stories have been contributed over the past 6 years. In addition to the virtual platform the development and continued live presentation of the project has involved swapping events, workshops and lectures and was also included in the publication Fashion and Sustainability: Design for Change by Kate Fletcher and Lynda Grose (2014). Most importantly it has initiated conversations about how we interact with the clothes we wear.

Currently the project is entering a new phase in whichthe fluid nature of garments and wardrobes will be integrated through mapping functions. For those that have previously participated in the project, your stories are safe and will be woven into the new editions of WORN_RELICS. We are looking for collaborators particularly in the field of programming and app development. If you are interested please get in touch!
